Orwell Road
Orwell Road is the latest offering from brothers Conor and Marc Bereen. Conor and Marc have been designing and running restaurants in Dublin for nearly two decades, with their long established Coppinger Row and Charlotte Quay restaurants being continually recognised as amongst Dublin’s best restaurants. Renowned for creating restaurants with great atmosphere, food and personality, Orwell Road sees them teaming up with inspiring young chef Daniel Hannigan and his devoted team to create a unique neighbourhood restaurant. Marc’s focus is on all aspects relating to front of house and customer experience, whilst Conor drives the design approach for all of their restaurants.
Before I left Dublin I had the good fortune to eat at Orwell Road on my birthday. It is located literally a stones throw from my old apartment in Rathgar and it’s a welcome addition to the cute little village of Rathgar, which until now, has been lacking in many eateries other than 1 or 2 other main restaurants and 2 deli/coffee shops.
I adored the feel of the place. I got a seat at the bar and enjoyed a lovely evening of great plates, all of which were perfectly portioned and bursting with flavour and texture. Their desserts were particularly memorable. It was nice too to be able to have the odd chat with the maître d' and hear first hand, all about the new venture.
I really hope it continues to do as well as it is to date and I look forward to going back when I visit Dublin again in the future.
